The Reboli Center for Art and History is thrilled to announce Joanna M. Valentine and her jewelry company, J Skylar Designs, as the Feature Artisan of the Month for July, 2025. A beautiful selection, thoughtfully curated by The Reboli Center Team, of her handcrafted jewelry will be showcased and available for purchase throughout the month of July in The Center’s Design Shop!
Valentine’s artistic journey began with a simple yet profound love of nature and the ocean, which she shared with her sons, Jared and Jesse. As she reflects, beachcombing was a cherished hobby where the family strolled the shoreline in search of the ocean’s treasures. The items they collected; sea glass, stones, shells, became the inspiration for crafts and various designs. After the passing of her younger son Jesse, Valentine found solace in creating pieces that not only honored his memory but also celebrated their mutual love for the ocean and its timeless beauty.
Inspired once again during her travels overseas, Joanna began working with sea glass, stones, shells, and sterling silver, transforming these natural materials into wearable art. Through this creative process, she found peace and a way to express herself. Her designs are a reflection of her deep connection to the earth and the healing power of nature. By using upcycled materials, Joanna crafts one-of-a-kind pieces that speak to both beauty and sustainability.

Visitors are invited to explore J Skylar Designs in The Reboli Center Design Shop. Each handcrafted piece, created with care and intention, will be on display throughout the month of July. No reservations are required to visit, and there is no admission fee during regular business hours (Tues-Sat 11am - 5pm, Sun 1pm - 5pm). We look forward to seeing you!
