Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (CLWAC)
Juried Group Exhibition
March 17 – May 31, 2026

In celebration of Women’s History Month, The Reboli Center for Art & History in Stony Brook will present a juried exhibition of artists from the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club (CLWAC) from March 17 through May 31, 2026. The exhibition features contemporary works by 37 artists representing 14 states, working across a variety of mediums including oil, watercolor, pastel, printmaking, and sculpture. The show highlights the organization’s long-standing commitment to supporting artists and fostering creative opportunity.

Founded in 1896, the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club is a nonprofit organization originally established to provide aid, guidance, and exhibition opportunities for women artists in New York City. Named for Catharine Lorillard Wolfe (1828 – 1887), a prominent New York philanthropist, art collector, and the only woman among the 106 founders of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the organization continues to promote artistic excellence and professional development for artists across the United States.

Wolfe was a passionate supporter of education, culture, and public access to art. Upon her death, she left a legacy that helped inspire the creation of the Art Club, ensuring continued encouragement and visibility for artists, particularly women. More than a century later, CLWAC has grown into a national organization of professional artists that offers exhibitions, educational opportunities, and scholarships.

The Reboli Center exhibition celebrates this enduring legacy while showcasing the diverse talents of today’s CLWAC members, along with interesting insights into the history of Catharine Lorillard Wolfe. Works in the exhibition will be reviewed anonymously by special guest juror Joshua Ruff, Co-Executive Director of Collections & Programming at the Long Island Museum, who will award prizes in multiple categories. The exhibition is free and open to the public during regular gallery hours, with a special awards reception scheduled for May 31, 2026.
