Emerging Artist | September & October

  • The Reboli Center for Art and History 64 Main Street Stony Brook, NY, 11790 (map)

Originally from Rhode Island, Kathleen Hartonchik is a 23-year-old Long Island-based artist who specializes in many mediums, including painting, ceramics, photography, and drawing. Through her work, she aims to capture every fraction of a scene because she believes no detail should go unnoticed.

Her interest in the arts was sparked at a young age when her father taught her to paint before she started elementary school. Along with that, she spent a great deal of time sorting through and choosing fabrics with her mother, helping to shape Kathleen’s keen understanding and love of color. Her mother has remained one of her strongest supporters throughout her artistic career and continues to encourage Kathleen to push herself and strive to create her best work.

Kathleen has been awarded Silver Key honors through the Scholastic Art Awards in both 2019 and 2020, as well as recognition in Senator Jack Reed’s Rhode Island High School Art Competition in 2019. Her high school years were filled with opportunities to showcase her art, including set design work and painting the school’s fire hydrant during her senior year. These experiences contributed to her being named Artist of the Year and receiving a silver bowl award in 2021.

She graduated from Hofstra University in 2025, where she strengthened her techniques through painting and art history classes. Using what she learned, Kathleen finds inspiration in the world around her when creating her work, often portraying the quiet, content moments so many of us crave in our busy day-to-day lives. Currently, Kathleen is focusing on her photography while awaiting opportunities for commission work.

Kathleen’s work will be featured at The Reboli Center for Art and History throughout the months of September and October 2026 during regular business hours as part of the Emerging Artist Spotlight programming.
