The Reboli Center’s Paint Parties have been sold-out successes since their inception, so now is the time to sign up for this engaging event scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, from 7 – 9pm. No experience is necessary, and beginners are encouraged to attend. Participants will complete a replica of Joseph Reboli’s painting, “Shelter Island Gothic.” Joseph Reboli grew up in Stony Brook and lived in the community until his death in 2004. He earned worldwide acclaim for his landscapes, flowers, and local scenes of Long Island, Block Island, Manhattan and Italy. The Reboli Center honors his memory, showcases his work, and nurtures and celebrates the work of other Long Island artists. Reservations may be made by calling 631-751-7707 or in person at the Center, which is open Tuesday – Saturday from 11am – 5pm and Sunday from 1-5pm. The cost is $45 per person and includes all supplies (canvas, paints, brushes and instruction), as well as light refreshments.
“The event is led by a professional artist who specializes in explaining why and how the painting was created, as well as making the process fun,” said Lois Reboli, co-founder of the Reboli Center for Art and History and the wife of the late artist, Joseph Reboli.
Linda Davison Mathues, an award-winning painter who has had her work featured in many galleries, is the instructor. “What makes this a unique event is that Linda explores what makes an artist paint in a specific style. And while a painting is used as the focus and inspiration, participants are encouraged to self-express in their personal styles, as well. With Linda’s many years of teaching experience, everyone leaves happy and sometimes amazed at their own hidden talent,” commented Lois Reboli.
A reminder, our Paint Parties have limited enrollment, so sign up early.
To register, come to the Reboli Center or call 631-751-7707 during business hours, Tuesday – Saturday from 11–5 or Sunday from 1–5.
