In conjunction with the current exhibit at the Reboli Center for Art and History, TOPIC: WATERCOLOR, the Reboli Center is pleased to offer a three-evening mini-course in watercolor techniques taught by award-winning Long Island watercolor artist Mary Jane Stevens. The course is open to all levels of aspiring watercolorists and will teach how to paint colorful, juicy watercolors. The course will begin with some basic drawing and composition principals and then move into painting nature subjects. Ms. Stevens will teach participants about watercolor pigments, how to use watercolor effectively so that your subject matter comes alive, and how to allow the watercolor to almost paint itself! In each class, Ms. Stevens will demonstrate drawing and painting techniques. Each class builds on development in an earlier class. Attendance is limited. The course fee for all three sessions is $135.
Mary Jane Stevens has been painting and studying watercolors for the past twenty-five years. She is a founding member of the Long Island Watercolor Society and works with the Society to organize events and shows for that organization. She has exhibited widely in galleries and events across Long Island and is the recipient of numerous awards for her work in watercolor. Her painting style is direct, free, transparent and colorful. She has taught both in her home studio as well as in various other locations and her expertise is in floral, landscape and nature painting techniques.
