May's Artisan of the Month | Alan Winick | Tide Pieces

May 3, 2024 Reboli Center

The Reboli Center for Art and History is pleased to announce Alan Winick as our May 2024 feature Artisan of the Month. Winick makes very unique and practical crafts that he likes to call "Tidepieces". Essentially, they are handcrafted and framed tideclocks that feature a captivating image that moves in. coordination with the tide table, creating a visual representation of where the tide is along the beach. These interesting pieces come in a variety of image options and Winick has even kindly collaborated with our President,  Lois Reboli, to incorporate Joseph Reboli's Gamecock Cottage painting image into a limited edition Tidepiece that will be sold exclusively at The Reboli Center through to Father's Day.

Created out of his studio in Wilton, Connecticut, Winick carefully hand crafts each piece and offers over 80 visually different pieces along with the options for customization. According to Winick, tide clocks  are designed to indicate the interval between the tides and can provide a picture of conditions at the shore, which is especially important for those enjoy water activities such as fishing, boating or general beach trips. Not only are they functional, but Winick's mechanically functional incorporated artworks make beautiful items of home decor.

Winick's work has been featured in a variety of reputable New England publications such as Coastal Living, Cruising Outpost Magazine, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, Maine Home & Design and, Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors. We are elated to share Winick's work with you which will be available for viewing and purchase at The Reboli Center through the rest of May 2024 as our feature Artisan of month and beyond. As always, our Exhibitions and Design Shop are open to the public, there is no admission fee and no reservations are required to attend during our regular business hours.
