June's Artisan of the Month | Diane SanRomán | Potter

The Reboli Center for Art and History is pleased to announce ceramic artist Diane SanRomán as The Feature Artisan of the Month for June 2025. A thoughtfully curated collection of her handcrafted ceramic work will be showcased and available for purchase throughout the month of June in The Center’s Design Shop!

SanRomán’s path to ceramics began during her early undergraduate years at a college in Appalachia. As she shared with us, a friend asked her to join a trip out to a Potter's studio in a rural mountainous area, with an elevation 1,900 feet! The goal of the journey was to purchase one of the rural Potter’s wheel thrown bowls.

Upon arrival to their mountainous destination, the rural Potter introduced SanRomán to his pottery wheel and wood firing kiln, along with his self taught methods of glazing and the places in which he mined for clay on his own land. This experience ignited a deep passion in SanRomán that eventually led her to study pottery firsthand.

“…this very thorough introductory experience to the world of pottery changed my world forever on that very day … triggering in me, an instantaneous exaltation.” - Diane SanRomán

Years later, after completing her Master of Arts at West Virginia University and a career devoted to education and the arts, SanRomán took her first pottery wheel class which she described to us as a ‘highly tactical, soothing, and  earthy experience’ that she never never wanted to end! Since then, SanRomán has dedicated herself to creating functional, beautiful pieces that reflect both nature and utility. Her artistic journey includes studying under noted Potter and fellow Reboli Center Feature Artisan, Russell Pulick where the two retain an active membership at The Brick Clay Studio and Gallery located in Saint James, NY.

“We are very pleased to feature Diane SanRomán’s work this June,” said The Director of The Reboli Center. “Our Assistant Gallery Coordinator, Pamela, found her work. Pam has a fantastic eye for quality. Diane’s ceramic pieces are beautiful, functional, and I personally love her use of earth tones. They would make a lovely addition to any home collection.”

Visitors are invited to explore SanRomán’s work in The Reboli Center Design Shop. Each of her pieces, which are skillfully crafted with care and intention, will be on display throughout the month of June. No reservations are required to visit our Center and there is no admission fee during regular business hours (Tues-Sat 11am - 5pm , Sun 1pm - 5pm). We look forward to seeing you!
