The Good, The Odd & The Unusual

  • The Reboli Center for Art and History 64 Main Street Stony Brook, NY, 11790 (map)

With a title that speaks for itself, this exhibition will feature an array of Reboli originals that range from the most-likely-to-crowd-please to the strangest of subject choices. This eclectic mix of original works in oil and watercolor showcases Reboli's unique ability to present objects as mundane as a garden hose with a nearly cinematic essence and touches of light that captivate.

Joining in on the out of the ordinary fun will be returning Photographer Patricia Paladines. The Reboli Center will be exhibiting Paladines’s recent collection of photographs featuring good, odd and unusual creatures that she photographed with remarkable detail on her recent trip to the Galapagos.

Patricia Paladines, a Setauket resident, had always dreamed of traveling to the Galapagos Islands, especially because the islands belong to the country where her family had emigrated from when she was 3 years old, Ecuador. In December 2022 her dream finally came true. Unlike Charles Darwin, she was not disgusted by the lizards that greeted her on the islands’ lava rock beaches, rather because of his observations she understood the good behind these odd and unusual creatures. Patricia’s background is in photographic arts and environmental education. She approaches image making with the same hope she has when sharing information about the natural world with students, the hope the viewer will appreciate the beauty of the world that surrounds us. Patricia is Co-President of the Four Harbors Audubon Society and an Adjunct Instructor in the School of Marine Sciences at Stony Brook University.
