The Reboli Center for Art and History is pleased to recognize Patricia (Pat) Patten as our Artisan of the Month for November, 2026! With more than 20 years of experience in pottery and a continued passion for learning, Patten has cultivated a creative practice rooted in family, faith, hard work, and the joy of sharing artistic talents with others.
Patten’s studio, Silver Dollar Pottery & Crafts in Rocky Point, is a heartfelt tribute to her mother, whose guiding philosophy was to “do good, learn and do better, give thanks to God and work hard.” These words inspired a life of determination, gratitude, and contentment, especially in her mother’s senior years. Today, Patten carries that spirit forward through her art and her dedication to helping others discover their own creativity.
A lover of color, Patten uses vibrant glazes to bring warmth and personality to her pottery. She hopes each painted piece offers a sense of peaceful enjoyment to those who welcome it into their homes. While she often works with brown clay to create pieces her children enjoy, porcelain holds a special place in her heart. Its challenges continually encourage her to learn, experiment, and grow as an artist.
For Patten, pottery is about much more than the finished piece. She values the entire creative journey—the experience of making, the lessons learned along the way, and the meaning a handmade object can bring to someone's life.
Her creative interests extend well beyond the pottery wheel. Through Silver Dollar Pottery & Crafts, Patten provides opportunities for others to explore pottery, painting, knitting, crocheting, and writing. She believes in nurturing the talents we carry within us and creating space for those talents to flourish.
Patten is also a writer whose essays have appeared in the inspirational publications A Daily Gift of Inspiration, A Daily Gift of Friendship, and A Daily Gift of Gratitude. She continues to work toward publishing additional essays, bringing the same thoughtfulness and dedication to her words as she does to her art.
“I first met Pat when I took a pottery class at her studio, Silver Dollar Pottery & Crafts, and I feel so fortunate that our paths crossed. Pat is truly a rare gem of a human being… kind, generous, and someone whose warmth you feel the moment you meet her. She is not only incredibly talented in her own creative work, but also a gentle, patient, and encouraging teacher who makes everyone feel welcome and capable of discovering their own creativity. Pat has a beautiful way of sharing her gifts with others, and her passion for art is matched by the apparent kindness of her heart. She is truly a bright light in any room she enters, and I couldn’t be happier to celebrate her as The Reboli Center for Art and History’s November Artisan of the Month!” - Tasha Boehm, Director
