June Feature Artisan of the Month | Erica Zap

  • The Reboli Center for Art and History 64 Main Street Stony Brook, NY, 11790 (map)

Jewelry designer Erica Zap has been surrounded by art and craft for as long as she can remember, a foundation that naturally shaped her creative path. Growing up in a family that owned an international handcraft shop, Zap was immersed in a world of global artistry, with objects collected from her parents’ extensive travels. This early exposure to diverse cultures and handmade work continues to influence her aesthetic today.

Zap went on to study at S.U.N.Y. New Paltz, where she earned her BFA in gold and silversmithing. Following her graduation, she began developing her own line of jewelry, now produced in Rhode Island and sold nationally under the name Erica Zap Designs. Her work reflects both her formal training and the wide-ranging artistic influences of her upbringing.

Much of Zap’s career has been spent connecting directly with her audience. She travels across the country participating in juried craft shows, where she shares her work with the public. In addition to these events and her online store, her jewelry can be found in galleries, retail shops, and museum stores nationwide, including The Reboli Center!

Zap’s designs are rooted in a clear and thoughtful philosophy. “My goal is to design a contemporary look which exposes beauty through the simplicity of form,” Zap explains. “My jewelry reflects the integration of past and present cultures. I use metals, stones, textures, shapes and color to create precious pieces that are as individual as the women who wear them.”

Through her work, Zap continues to explore the balance between tradition and modern design, creating jewelry that is both personal and timeless. We are honored to feature Erica Zap as our Artisan of the Month for June 2026 with a stunning selection of her unique pieces in our Design Shop available for viewing and purchase.
