  • The Reboli Center for Art and History 64 Main Street Stony Brook, NY, 11790 (map)

In Conjunction with Our Autumn Exhibition, Every Picture Paints a Story with Michael Paraskevas, we are excited to announce a sub-exhibit, in our Englebright Gallery, presented by Save the Sound.

Save the Sound: Protecting, Preserving, and Restoring the Long Island Sound Region

August 29th, 2023 - November 5th, 2023

What does Save the Sound do? We are glad you asked! Save the Sound leads environmental action in your region. They fight to mitigate the impact of climate change, save endangered lands, protect Long Island Sound and the rivers and streams that feed into it, and work with nature to restore ecosystems and habitat. Their bi-state mission is to protect and improve the land, and the air and water quality around the entire Long Island Sound region, in both New York and Connecticut. They utilize scientific, legal, and policy expertise and engage individuals and communities to achieve results that benefit our environment for current and future generations. We are so excited to showcase some of their incredible work in our Englebright Gallery through the duration of the Every Picture Paints a Story exhibition from August 29th through November 5th, 2023, at The Reboli Center.

Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a video prepared by Save the Sound which will feature an overview of their eelgrass restoration project, a recap of their policy work regarding clean water, coastal resilience, climate, clean energy and environmental justice along with the results of their 2022 ‘Long Island Sound Report Cards’ with George Hoffman. The video will also feature a piece advocating for Plum Island to be preserved as a national monument which will feature the environmental activist and former NYS assemblyman for which our Englebright Gallery is named, Steve Englebright.

As always, our exhibitions are free to the public and no reservations are required to visit The Reboli Center during our regular business hours. For more info, please call: 631-751-7707 or email info@rebolicenter.org and one of our representatives will do their best to assist you.
