Charles Wildbank: "Being Human" – A New Exhibition at the Reboli Center for Art and History

Stony Brook, NY – The Reboli Center for Art and History is proud to announce the upcoming solo exhibition, "Being Human," featuring the extraordinary works of Long Island-based artist Charles Wildbank. The exhibition will be on display from January 14th to February 16th, 2025, at the Reboli Center, located in the heart of Stony Brook Village.

"Being Human" showcases Charles Wildbank’s signature blend of seascapes, florals, still life creations, and poignant portraits, offering an intimate glimpse into the artist’s rich body of work. Known for his dynamic use of color and his deeply expressive approach to the human experience, Wildbank’s paintings explore themes of resilience, beauty, and the complexity of the human spirit. This exhibition will be a testament to his lifelong dedication to the visual arts and his journey to transcend the challenges of being deaf since birth.

About Charles Wildbank:

Charles Wildbank is a nationally recognized artist whose works have found homes in prestigious institutions and private collections across the United States. Despite being born deaf, Wildbank has defied expectations and turned his perceived limitations into a source of artistic strength, drawing inspiration from a lifetime spent immersed in the world of visual art.

From an early age, Wildbank was deeply influenced by his experiences visiting museums and art collections across the globe. He studied and befriended leading figures in the art world, including Andrew Wyeth, Audrey Flack, Neil Welliver, and David Hockney.

A highly accomplished academic, Wildbank received a fellowship to Yale University School of Music and Art at the age of 21, culminating in a Fine Arts degree from Pratt Institute. Throughout his career, he has earned numerous awards and accolades, including appearances on The Discovery Channel’s Deaf Mosaic and various magazine covers, further cementing his place as a leading figure in contemporary art.
